'Here I Am' was born out of writing songs to understand what my long-suffering GCSE and A-Level music teacher was trying to teach me (suspensions, chord progressions, form, etc); combined with the luxury of having the family's Broadwood upright piano in my bedroom in Cemaes Bay, North Wales.

Around this time Dad was tutoring on a Government-funded course bringing music potential out in unemployed people in North Wales, and a studio was set up to aid in this endeavour. He asked if i wanted to record some of the songs I'd been showing him, and so, we tootled off down to Mid-Wales for a couple of days and recorded this album.

Unexpectedly, some of these songs became very much a timeline-soundtrack to my growing up, 'Here I Am' the unofficial posse anthem with some of friends at the time, 'Don't Cry Wolf' a favourite with a local music hero of mine, 'Running From The Truth' providing my break-through in A-Level music, and 'Scared' sung by my BRo with me on the piano for a talent show in front of a hall full of schoolmates and parents. A brutal crowd... At that time, I can't describe the feeling that they actually liked it.

This album marks when I began to find my own voice.
